Downtown Cramerton remained flooded Friday from the South Fork River after Thursday's severe weather.

At least four tornadoes were confirmed by the National Weather Service during Thursday's severe weather, the organization said Friday.

Two EF-2 tornadoes -- with maximum sustained winds of 135 mph -- were confirmed, one south of Kings Mountain at about 10:55 a.m. and another in Kannapolis at about 11:45 a.m.

An EF-1 tornado also touched down west of Pineville. The EF-1 tornado, which is the second-weakest of of six types of tornadoes, has maximum sustained winds of 95 mph.

The tornado touchded down at 12:18 p.m. "almost exactly on the NC/SC line along Nations Ford Road," officials said, and continued east into Matthews and Union County.

An EF-0 tornado also was confirmed in Rowan County. That category of tornadoes has winds of 65-85 mph.

Much of the area continues to experience flooding and damage from uprooted and downed trees.
