Local News Roundup: CMS-County Standoff; 2040 Update; Credit Karma Expands; ACC Baseball And NASCAR In Charlotte
After an uncomfortable dustup between county leaders and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, they meet in private this week with no progress reported, but now the NAACP is calling for transparency and accountability from CMS for failing minority students. Clemson returns to familiar perch as preseason ACC favorite
Clemson is the preseason pick to win the Atlantic Coast Conference for the seventh time in eight seasons. That's according to voting results released following last week’s ACC media days. Media members picked the Tigers on 103 of 164 votes.

The Atlantic Coast Conference has canceled its tournament semifinal game between No. 16 Virginia and Georgia Tech due to a positive COVID-19 test, quarantining and contact tracing within the Cavaliers program. Georgia Tech advances to play the winner of North Carolina-Florida State.
North Carolina aims to contend in ACC despite QB uncertainty
UNC needs a step forward defensively from a unit returning seven starters, including Ray Vohasek (24 starts) up front and Tony Grimes (17) in the secondary. There’s also the arrival of coordinator Gene Chizik, who led a turnaround once before at UNC.
The Carolinas' ACC teams have a big presence in the Sweet 16
It's Sweet 16 time for the NCAA basketball tournament, and four men's teams and three women's teams from the Carolinas are competing. How college football realignment could impact the ACC
College athletics are in a state of chaos. Most of this has centered around football, which brings in more revenue than most other NCAA sports combined. But there's been a cost. Regional ties are being lost and some conferences are fighting to avoid being left in the dust. That includes the ACC, which recently moved its headquarters to Charlotte.
