  • Caroline Calouche & Co. is celebrating 10 years of producing Clara’s Trip: A Cirque & Dance Nutcracker Story. Clara’s Trip has quickly become a new holiday tradition for many in Charlotte. The show run will be at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Booth Playhouse on December 15 - 20.
Clara’s Trip is a contemporary twist on a holiday classic. Artistic Director Caroline Calouche performed The Nutcracker many times in her childhood and dreamed of inventing her version. For the past nine years, her adaptation has brought joy to audiences of all ages. Filled with athletic and high-energy dancing on the ground and in the air, the unique take on the classic story is the perfect holiday treat for your friends and family.
Calouche’s story begins with Clara, a beautiful young and single woman, attending a holiday party hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Flowers. At the party, she meets Beau, who quickly sweeps her off her feet. Clara is a passionate dancer but not the most coordinated. She trips, falls, and is whisked off to the hospital to learn that her ankle is broken. Her friends cheer her up with some gifts that come to life in her dreams. High-flying feats and breathtaking performances follow in this memorable cirque & dance spin on the classic Nutcracker tale.

Sunandaji has been studying and researching Vedanta, the ancient philosophy of India for over four decades. • Giving circles support and represent work in every aspect of our social fabric, providing essential support, enriching our communities and cultural life, and taking action where change is needed. However, individuals with first-hand experience often have lots of ideas and solutions, but are not always positioned to share those on a path to impact which can reinforce patterns of power and privilege that uphold systemic racism.

Join giving circle leaders Akilah Wallace, Founder and Chair and Tyeshia Wilson, Chair-Elect of HERitage Giving Fund for a two-part series where you'll learn how to recognize and utilize your members' lived experiences as a tool for racial equity. Participants will explore volunteer activities and patterns that perpetuate inequities, how to thoughtfully center member voices and lived experiences, and ultimately, how member engagement, when designed well, can be a part of supporting an end to racial inequity and social injustice.

The series will highlight real examples, both from HERitage’s work and other giving circles across the country.

Join us as LUNAR’s co-founders Yichen Feng and Sabrina Wu share some of the key learnings.
