Charlotte Talks: Tommy Tomlinson Talks SouthBound, Storytelling, and "The Elephant In The Room"
Tuesday, November 14 2017
Former Charlotte Observer columnist Tommy Tomlinson was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize. One of this country’s great writers because of his gift for storytelling, Tommy is now producing a podcast for WFAE focusing on telling the story of the South through a series of intimate interviews. SouthBound launches on Wednesday, but first, we spend an hour with Tommy Tomlinson talking about this new venture and more.
Tommy Tomlinson was once a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize because of his remarkable talent for storytelling.
He was a columnist at The Charlotte Observer, and has written for numerous publications, including ESPN The Magazine. Now, he’s telling stories in a different way.
His new podcast, Southbound, launches November 15th, featuring conversations with southerners about the south and what brings people here, what keeps them here, and how this place shapes who they are and what they do.
Tommy, a Georgia native, is one of those people, and because he can’t talk to himself, we’ll talk to him about his work, how he thinks and about this new venture.
