On the next Charlotte Talks, we have a conversation with Mo Green, the North Carolina superintendent of public instruction.
Green, a Democrat, replaced Republican Catherine Truitt. He ran a highly contentious race against Republican Michele Morrow, a controversial candidate who homeschooled her children and called public schools "indoctrination centers.”
Green is the son of a special education teacher and says he’s seen firsthand the ability of public education to transform both lives and communities. But there are many challenges facing educators today — from cuts at the federal level, to teacher pay, and efforts to eliminate DEI initiatives and policies.
We sit down with Green to hear how he’s tackling it all — and how he’s meeting parents, students, and teachers where they are.
