The Carolina Panthers drafted Maryland wide receiver D.J. Moore with the 24th pick of the NFL draft Thursday night.

Moore, who caught 146 passes for 2,027 yards and 18 touchdowns in college, said he was ecstatic to join the team.

“I’m happy. I cried a little, but I’m happy,” said Moore, according to a team report.

Moore added: “It feels great just to know that what I did in college didn’t go unnoticed by the coaching staff. When they came to my pro day, I just lit it up for them.”

Moore, a junior, is 6 feet and 210 pounds. He was the Big Ten Receiver of the Year in 2017 and recorded 80 receptions for 1,033 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Panthers have seven more picks in the draft barring any potential trades.
