Charlotte’s city sexton, Bill Bibby, spends his days among the dead, maintaining the city’s cemeteries and comforting grieving families. He says the work has changed how he looks at life.

Workers with the Siloam Presbyterian Church Cemetery Beautification Project and Seramur and Associates located 190 unmarked graves in northeast Charlotte.

The city of Salisbury will cover the cost of repairing broken headstones that were pushed off their bases or knocked over in recent weeks at the historic African American Dixonville Cemetery off Old Concord Road.
