Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi's career began in an almost fantastical fashion: At 13, she landed a contract with Island Records and developed the songs for her debut over school holidays. Now 17, Cilmi has released Lessons to Be Learned to international praise, on the strength of her powerhouse vocals and hit single "Sweet About Me." She's been touring and performing with artists such as the Sugababes, Nouvelle Vague, James Blunt, R.E.M. and Kaiser Chiefs.
In a session with host David Dye, Cilmi talks about her writing process for the album, as well as her unexpected discovery during an impromptu performance at a community festival.
