Butler Girls Basketball Player Suspended For Role In Brawl

Butler girls basketball playuer Dyshay Aliyah Kilpatrick is suspended at least 10 days for her roll in the brawl with a CMPD police officer at Friday's Butler-East Meck boys game, WCNC-TV reports. Her father, Ernest Owens, is charged with assaulting a police officer and disorderly conduct. A WCNC videographer was there and filmed the incident. You can watch the raw video here. Kilpatrick is seen slapping an officer in the head while officers are trying to restrain Owens. In a followup report, Owens tells WCNC that he was wrong. According to the report, East Meck and Butler fans were told to stay on opposite sides of the gym. However, Owens tells WCNC that his daughter, a former student at East Meck, received permission to visit a former coach on the other side of the gym. He says police apparently thought she stayed on the East Meck side too long. Owens got upset, and the brawl commenced. Update: The Charlotte Observer reports here that charges have been filed against Dyshay Aliyah Kilpatrick and her mother, Tanja Lejun Kilpatrick.
