Mecklenburg County Commissioners say they support the county manager's proposal that would provide Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools with an extra $26 million in funding next fiscal year. The commission met Wedesday night to cintue preparing the budget for a final vote next week. Commissioners also discussed additional service cuts that would allow the county to lower the property tax rate by two cents. That's slightly more than what County Manager Harry Jones has proposed in his budget, but would still result in higher property tax for a majority of homeowners. Most homeowners would still see an increase in their overall property tax bill because of this year's revaluation. A vote on the county budget is scheduled for next Tuesday.
