In Sanskrit, the term Triveni Sangam refers to the confluence of three rivers. As a band name here, Sangam is the meeting of three musical minds: saxophonist Charles Lloyd, Indian-born tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain and jazz drumming phenom Eric Harland. Since his early successes in the '60s, when he achieved rare crossover success as a respected jazz musician, Lloyd has always embraced adventure over stylistic constraint. Rhythmic crosscurrents underpin this Fort Stage show at Newport.
