A person died early Monday morning in east Charlotte after a tree fell on an apartment building. The Charlotte Fire Department said several crews evacuated people from a three-story apartment building on Commonwealth Avenue near Morningside Drive. They rescued one person who was taken to a hospital, and recovered a body as well, from someone who died when the large tree fell.
