Behind the Scenes Panel Discussion: Women in Jazz
Today’s women in jazz are a part of this ongoing national conversation empowering women. Not often do you see a full ensemble of jazz women. As a featured addition to this month's special JAZZ ROOM, our quintet of talented female jazz musicians spend an hour speaking to us about the world of jazz from their perspective. They will share their experiences as female leaders in today's jazz world. Panelists: Ellen Rowe, piano Allison Miller, drums Marion Hayden, bass Sharel Cassity, saxophone In recognition of Women’s History Month, JazzArts Charlotte presents this free panel as part of a month-long celebration of the impact of women to jazz, then and now, including music, workshops, and discussion. Join us in one-on-one conversation for a backstage glimpse at the world of jazz. Thank you to our special event sponsor, Mayer Brown. And thank you to the program supporters, who each bring jazz alive in Charlotte: Infusion Fund, Knight Foundation, Doris Duke Foundation, North Carolina Arts Council, and O's Place Jazz.
