Carolina Pro Musica: Global Experience - music from 1250 to present
Carolina Pro Musica presents A Global Experience – music from 1250 to present day featuring popular music from Europe, the Americas and the Far East. The program is part of GEMS (Gaston Early Music Series) and features songs and dances that were popular throughout entire regions in the past. Some were secular works but were reworded for use in sacred situations. Songs will be sung in English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and more. Often the folksongs appeared in orchestral works. Come learn about popular music of the past and its impact. The free concert is Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 6:00 pm, at Gaston County Public Library, 1555 E Garrison Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28054.
This project is supported by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, the Gaston Arts Council, the Gaston Community Foundation and Gaston County Public Library.
