Police, Homeland Security Arrest 2 On Drug Charges

Cornelius police said Wednesday they have arrested two men on drug-related charges after an investigation along with Huntersville police and the federal Department of Homeland Security. The announcement added new details following Tuesday’s investigation in the Blue Stone Harbor neighborhood that also included a high-speed chase on I-77.

Authorities carried out search warrants this week at several locations in Cornelius following a “lengthy and continuing investigation,” Cornelius police said.

Tryone B. Durham, 43, a Trinidad native living in New York State, and Sean M. Younger, also 43, of Harken Drive, in the Blue Stone Harbor neighborhood, were arrested on charges including Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver and felony conspiracy. Mr. Younger also was charged with Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Sale and Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Mr. Durham was also charged with Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purpose of Sale and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Both men were being held Wednesday in Mecklenburg County Jail in Charlotte. Mr. Younger’s bail was set at $48,000, while Mr. Durham’s was set at $7,500.

As police investigated the home on Harken Drive Tuesday, suspects fled in a black Dodge Charger. The chase went onto I-77 at Exit 28 and headed south, reportedly at high speeds. Police later called off the chase for safety concerns. Later, another vehicle was stopped and searched as well, police said.

The searches this week turned up a still-undetermined amount of marijuana, more than $25,000 cash, five luxury vehicles, electronic devices and several firearms.

Cornelius police said their investigation is continuing.
