Gov. Roy Cooper has assembled a panel of educators, parents, advocates, employers and elected officials to get more educators of color into North Carolina's K-12 work force.
The task force is charged with reporting by the end of this year on strategies to improve educator diversity.
Charlotte-area members include Claudia Sandoval, a Union County parent; Chance Lewis of Concord, a UNC Charlotte professor representing the UNC system; and Leroy Wray Jr. of Charlotte, who works in teacher recruitment for UNC Asheville and also represents the UNC system.
