Remembering Charlotte's Nappy Brown
A hometown funeral will be held tomorrow for Charlotte blues legend Nappy Brown. After a career that included high points in the 50s, the 80s and again last year with the release of the album "Long Time Comin', Brown died last weekend at the age of 78. Scott Cable first met Brown when Cable was a junior high student in Charlotte. Cable grew up to become Brown's producer and friend. He spoke with WFAE's Scott Graff on the phone from his office in Wilmington to remember the blues icon. Cable began by explaining what the music world lost when Brown passed away. The funeral for Nappy Brown will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Paul's Baptist Church in Charlotte.
