Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx has joined the chorus of supporters recruited by President Obama to champion his job creation proposals. Foxx spoke on a conference call with Democratic mayors from Atlanta and Orlando Friday afternoon. "Charlotteans - many of whom who have been unemployed for six months or longer - desperately need and want to get back to work and this proposal does some things that many of us have been arguing for for many months," said Foxx. Specifically, Foxx points to Obama's proposal for extending unemployment benefits and providing skills training for people who are collecting unemployment. Mayor Foxx also applauds the plan to offer targeted tax cuts for small businesses - which he says account for 90 percent of jobs in Charlotte.
