Lt. Gov. Makes Bid For Hannity

Usually it’s industries and companies that state politicians want to lure to North Carolina, but Lt. Governor Dan Forest is trying to lure conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity.

Hannity announced on his radio show he was looking to pick up and move out of what he called “the socialist state of New York,” following a comment by New York governor Andrew Cuomo about “extreme conservatives” having no place there. On Thursday on his show, Hannity received a call from Forest.

“I personally want to extend you the opportunity to come here,” Forest said. “I’ll personally tour you around the state from sea to mountains, and spend as much time with you as you would like, to show you the great state of North Carolina, introduce you to the people here and introduce you to Southern hospitality.”

The lieutenant governor and the radio host commiserated on policy issues, and Forest touted North Carolina’s declining unemployment rate. After about six minutes, Hannity told Forest he would visit and buy him dinner.

“I can’t thank you enough, Lt. Governor Dan Forest, the beautiful state of North Carolina,” Hannity said.

Since the call, Forest has continued the push. He has set up a petition on his website courting the talk show host, and sent 19 tweets about it at the time of this report.
