Low gas prices and an improving economy have contributed to the projected busiest holiday travel in six years.

Charlotte Douglas Airport is expecting about 25,000 passengers to begin flights (rather than connect) from Charlotte on Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday, and Monday—each of those days will near the all-time high of 29,000 departures the day following the Democratic National Convention. Airport officials are asking those dropping off or picking up to park the new hourly parking deck.

An analysis by Google’s Maps team of the past years in Charlotte found traffic has been ninth worst of 21 major cities studied.

Traffic is heaviest on Wednesday, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.in the afternoon, followed by Tuesday and Saturday, which is 7 percent worse than Sunday.

Black Friday and Thanksgiving are relatively light on the road.
