A former fire investigator who was awarded $1.5 million in a retaliation lawsuit against the city of Charlotte, is pushing for more money.
In a recent filing, Crystal Eschert’s attorney argued some of her damages should be tripled because a jury found the city had retaliated against her for raising safety concerns. Under state law, a judge has that discretion, if an employee was injured in some way by what’s called a ‘willful violation.’ That would bring the total damages to $2.4 million.
