Weapons confiscated at CLT by TSA

Transportation Security Administration officers prevented two passengers from bringing firearms aboard flights at Charlotte Douglas International Airport last week.

One of the firearms was loaded. The weapons were detected by TSA agents in the passengers’ carry-on baggage. According to TSA officials, 26 firearms have been confiscated by agents this year at Charlotte’s airport. A total of 68 were detected last year. Nationwide, just over 100 firearms were confiscated last week—85 were loaded.

Firearms are allowed in carryon luggage on flights, but only if they are declared at ticket counters, unloaded and packed in a locked, hard-sided container. Violators can be fined up to $13 thousand dollars.
