Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will reopen and resume classes Monday, according to a statement sent out by the district Sunday afternoon on Twitter.
CMS closed schools Thursday of last week ahead of Hurricane Michael — which devastated the Florida panhandle and moved inland over the Carolinas, bringing rainfall and gusty winds. The district maintained the closures Friday after the storm knocked out power in 32 schools.
According to CMS, power has been restored at all of the schools.
CMS will be open on a regular schedule Monday, October 15 for all schools, all students and all staff. Thank YOU for your focus on safety and patience, and to CMS operations and @DukeEnergy employees who worked tirelessly to restore power to 32 schools and to all our neighbors. pic.twitter.com/QP1pC6sLfO
