Police say a Gaston County associate pastor has been charged with several child sex crimes involving a 14-year-old.
Nicholas Adam Martin, 24, was arrested Sunday and charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a minor, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one county of felonious indecent exposure to a minor, according to the Gaston County Police Department.
Martin was an associate pastor at North Belmont Church of God when the alleged crimes happened from October 2018-September 2019, police said. Police did not say if the alleged victim was a member of the church.
An investigation was started earlier this month.
Martin was being held under a $1 million bond at the Gaston County jail late Sunday. His arrest comes just two days after an assistant principal at a Gaston County high school was charged with six felony counts of sex offense with a student.
Lisa Renee Rothwell, an assistant principal at Stuart Cramer High, was also given a $1 million bond. She, too, was still in jail on Sunday evening.
Police ask anyone with information on the Martin case to call 704-866-3320.
