The North Carolina Department of Transportation plans drop-in public hearings Tuesday and Wednesday on plans to add toll lanes to U.S. 74/Independence Boulevard. And the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization plans a separate meeting Tuesday uptown on alternative transportation needs in the I-77 corridor from Statesville to Rock Hill.
The optional toll lanes on Independence would be added between Idlewild Road and I-485.
Meetings are Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the CPCC Levine Campus in Matthews and Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ovens Auditorium, off Independence Boulevard.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization is holding its separate drop-in meeting Tuesday asking for comments on alternative transportation needed along the I-77 corridor from Statesville to Rock Hill. That's at 4:30 p.m. at Charlotte Center City Partners in uptown Charlotte.
