The world has been turned upside down by the coronavirus, especially for children. There's a lot that adults don't understand about these uncertain times, so how do you explain it to young people?
Familiar places, from school to a friend's house, are now off-limits in the era of social distancing.
Duke University professor and psychologist Robin Gurwitch, an expert on how children process trauma, says ignoring current events is not the way to go.
“The most important thing is parents need to sit down and have conversations with their children no matter their age,” Gurwitch says.
What does that conversation sound like? Are there things to say – or not say?
