Missa Papae Marcelli and Other Mass Movements Through Time
The Charlotte Chamber Choir presents Missa Papae Marcelli, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina’s monumental Renaissance masterwork, which legend says saved polyphony for all time, in its entirety.
Accompanying this immortal masterpiece are five select movements of later Masses from the Renaissance to the 20th century, moving in reverse liturgical order - from Agnus Dei to Kyrie - and backward through time. These selections invite listeners to experience the echo of Palestrina’s influence through centuries of great composers and evolving musical languages.
Concerts take place March 14 at Providence United Methodist Church and March 15 at Myers Park Baptist Church, both at 3:30 PM. Tickets are $20, with $5 tickets available for students. For more information, please visit https://www.charlottechamberchoir.com/calendar or contact us at charlottechamberchoir@gmail.com.
Queen City Performing Arts Presents: Mamma Mia!
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! a night to remember!
The Gay Men’s Chorus of Charlotte and the Women’s Chorus of Charlotte are joining forces for the ultimate feel-good event of the season — a high-energy, glitter-soaked celebration of the music that conquered the world.
This is The Big Gay Sing 7: Mamma Mia! Edition — and it’s not just a concert. It’s a full-on sing-your-face-off, dance-in-the-aisles, joy-exploding experience featuring the iconic hits of ABBA from Mamma Mia! (yes, the musical AND the movie 🎶).
✨ The songs you blast in the car
✨ The harmonies you “accidentally” know by heart
✨ The choruses you physically cannot stay quiet during
And good news… singing along isn’t just allowed — it’s EXPECTED.
Equal parts concert, disco party, and communal love letter to pop perfection, this is your invitation to drop your inhibitions, grab your people, and become part of the show.
So warm up those vocal cords, dust off your platform boots (optional but encouraged), and join us for a night where the joy is loud, proud, and unapologetically fabulous.

David Radavich: Revising & Shaping Your Poem for Publication
Great poems are not born by autogenesis, or even by a talented muse. They are revised and polished into more perfect being by a craftsperson who takes care to utilize all the tools of the lyric trade to enhance the poem’s potential impact on the reader. In this presentation, we will pay close attention to the visual architecture of poems, their aural structures, effective use of punctuation, evocative imagery and metaphor, balance, proportion, and radiance, and creating a powerful overall impression.

Actually
Who do you trust when every story has three sides? “Actually”, an edge-of-your-seat two-person play by Anna Ziegler, explores the complicated issues of sexual consent, race, and gender. The Los Angeles Times describes it as “Gripping. Beautifully rendered and complex. Destined to trigger discussion.”
The story follows Amber and Tom, two Princeton freshmen whose lives change after a possibly non-consensual sexual encounter. Named a Critic's Pick by New York Magazine and Time Out NY, the play uses a direct, confrontational style to show both sides of one night. This thought-provoking drama is ideal for college students, adults, and anyone facing the challenges of finding the truth in 2026. Directed by Amy Wada and featuring Dionte Darko and Luna Mackie.
Running April 25-May 3 at Armour Street Theatre in Davidson

The Lifespan of a Fact
Why let the truth get in the way of a good story? That is a question THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT explores when Davidson Community Players presents this contemporary, fast-paced comedy April 9 through April 26, 2026, at the Armour Street Theatre.
Directed by Frannie Williams, the play explores the ethics of journalism and the fine line between fact and interpretation as it follows a young Harvard-educated fact checker who clashes with a celebrated writer over an essay that could save a struggling New York magazine. As their battle over details intensifies, the debate becomes both hilarious and thought-provoking, a dynamic that feels especially relevant in today’s social media-driven culture. Evening performances begin at 7:30 pm, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Recommended ages 15 and up.

Audiences will be blown away by a powerhouse cast of local actors, dancers, and singers, along with dazzling visuals and choreography, and a Tony Award-winning musical score that features timeless classics like “Buenos Aires” and “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.” This is one event you don’t want to miss this summer.

As he approaches the end of a lengthy prison sentence, Oedipus is ready to taste his long-awaited freedom. But liberation comes at a price, and life on the outside proves its own kind of prison ruled by a cruel and violent fate. Based on Sophocles’ classic tale, Oedipus El Rey is an urgent examination of modern institutions, social barriers and the power of storytelling for those bold enough to challenge the gods of our time.
Oedipus El Rey is published as part of The Greek Trilogy of Luis Alfaro. Based on Sophocles' Electra and Oedipus, and Euripides' Medea, Alfaro's Electricidad, Oedipus El Rey, and Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles platform the concerns of the Chicano and wider Latino communities in Los Angeles and New York through ancient drama. Three Bone Theatre is proud to produce all three works of this trilogy across three seasons.
Community Partner Organization: Enlace
"An adaptation that feels both urgently relevant and timeless…Alfaro illuminates the ancient themes of the Oedipus story in thrillingly modern ways, giving us a new appreciation for the myth.” - THEATREMANIA
“…OEDIPUS EL REY dazzles…[it] strikes to the bone of one of our more disturbing ancient legends and gives it new, breathtakingly vital life.” - SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS
“What Sophocles left offstage—the violence, the sex—[OEDIPUS EL REY] confidently stages…This gives [the play] swagger, oomph and economy... a grim and dynamic reminder that…stories matter, old ones and new ones, true ones and fake ones.” - NEW YORK TIMES
