We are planning our biggest 5K for Kids Cancer event yet. 5K, 10K, Fun Run, Brunch, Kids Zone, Raffle and more! We hope you will join us in making it a success for kids fighting rare cancers! Over the last 14 years, this event has raised $2.3 Million for pediatric cancer through our flagship event.

  • Upcountry Fiber Artists will present their exhibit titled “Carolina Mountains to the Shore” at the Caldwell Arts Council August 5 – September 30, 2022.

    Places and sights discovered while idly driving through the countryside, glimpsing a lovely vista, visiting the cities and coast, or during quiet moments in nature have inspired the work in this exhibition by six Carolina textile artists. Their adventurous use of fabric, surface design, and stitching create exciting and innovative works that share their unique and individual Carolina experience with the viewer.

    Ballantyne's Live at 11 outdoor concert series continues this summer. Enjoy outdoor concerts on the first Friday of each month this summer, concluding on September 2.
    Admission is $10 per person; ages 5 and under are free.
    Ticket proceeds support over 100,000 local students' access to essential school supplies via Classroom Central's efforts.
    Tickets are limited and preregistration is encouraged. Walk-ups are not guaranteed admission.

  • McColl Center for Art + Innovation announces Ignite Nite, a citywide evening to celebrate the creative community in Charlotte on May 20. The event welcomes the community to participate in-person or virtually, joining 20 local artists with groups of art lovers to create works of art together from a mystery kit of materials. The work of art created by each group will be truly unique based on the artist’s vision for the materials provided. One group could build mini sculptures while another may end up with collages or hanging mobiles. In the Citywide Art Lab, each group will be led by an artist, including Charlotte artists Cat Babbie, Victoria Byers, Paul Farmer, Amanda Foshag, Bunny Gregory, Abel Jackson, Will Jenkins, Taylor Lee, April Marten, Kenny Nguyen, Elizabeth Palmisano, and Morganne Van Voorhis. Ignite Nite will take place on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and is free for all. There are three options to participate in this citywide evening of creativity: in-person at McColl Center, hosted at a group captain’s home, or at any location virtually. The program will be livestreamed and will include an opportunity for participants to join McColl Center’s Igniters community by donating to the Ignite Momentum campaign.   • NC MedAssist, a nonprofit free pharmacy, in partnership with the Community Free Clinic and Cooperative Christian Ministry, will be hosting the Hope for Health Community Day on Saturday, May 22, 9am-2pm. The event is drive thru and will connect people to FREE healthcare, medications and the local food bank. There will be free medication giveaways, food bags, and other items. The event is free and open to the public. To ensure that everyone receives all they need, pre-registration is encouraged, but not required.   • JazzArts Charlotte is excited to announce a new outdoor summer series at Victoria Yards in uptown Charlotte In partnership with Charlotte Center City Partners. This outdoor series of shows features a variety of the region’s top jazz musicians, to rock the stage at uptown Victoria Yards. In May, we bring you Mac Arnold and the Plate Full ‘o Blues, bringing the foundation of blues, soul, and funk. South Carolinian band leader and guitarist Mac Arnold studied the blues at the feet of none other than James Brown and the Muddy Waters Band, helping shape the electric blues sound that inspired the rock and roll movement. This blues crew includes Austin Brashier on guitar, Max Hightower on keyboards and harmonica, and Dizzy Dizzy on drums. Opening for the night is Menastree, a Fusion of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Funk, and Soul! Menastree is a group of Carolina natives that have come together to reinforce the Queen City music scene. Jesse Lamar Williams, Jeremy Maher, Zach Wheeler, Will Pinson and Braxton Bateman , provide “feel good music” with a blend of jazz, hip hop, soul funk and an eclectic blend of every genre combined. We’ll also have the JazzArts All-Stars to showcase the future stars of jazz right here in Charlotte. This group includes Gustavo Cruz, Samuel David, Holland Majors, Olivia Ratliff, Trey Tarzia, Food trucks will be on hand for all of your refreshment needs while enjoying the music. Some chairs will be available – you are encouraged to bring your own if desired. Columbia native Ben Eidson has been considered a saxophone phenom since the young age of 18. He makes the saxophone wail, sing, celebrate and cry. The Ben Edison Quartet attempts to explore language and improvisation through a set of standards and originals that serves as a medium for each artist to express their own creative/artistic vision.
