Meeting The Needs Of Young Adults With Autism

Few find it easy to transition from school to the adult world but for people with high-functioning Autism or Asperger’s syndrome, it can be a real challenge. Not only do these people face a major life transition, some or much of the help they’ve relied on as children begins to drop away at the same time that finding a job becomes important. We hear about one program in our area designed to help.

 Nancy Popkin - an Autism Resource Specialist with the Autism Society of North Carolina and parent of a young adult with autism.

Stacy Hultgren -director of IGNITE, in Davidson, a community center for young adults with autism.

Mike Hauck - a club member of IGNITE in Davidson.

Ray Evernham - Best known as a champion NASCAR crew chief.  Evernham and his family founded IGNITE in Davidson. He’s also the father of a young adult with autism.
