We're broadcasting from Uptown Charlotte and the Heroes Convention, which is in Charlotte Friday through Sunday at the Convention Center and is expected to host 50,000 convention-goers.

On this edition of the local news roundup…

On Monday, the City Council passed the budget for the next fiscal year, with higher taxes and police pay raises.

Meanwhile, Mecklenburg County Commissioners are a step closer to finalizing the County’s budget for next year, also with a potential tax increase and a plan to raise pay for teachers.

Atrium has plans to spend $1 billion in the hospital system’s facilities around Charlotte, the largest capital investment in the company’s history- how will their customers benefit?

And a unanimous vote in the North Carolina House on a bill that creates a reserve account for the DOT to pay for changes or cancellation of the I-77 Toll Lane contract. We'll discuss what this could mean.

Those stories and much more as Mike Collins and the roundup reporters broadcast live from the Heroes Convention at the Charlotte Convention Center (capes and masks included!) on the Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup.
