Panthers' Julius Peppers Nominated For NFL Man Of The Year
Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers has been named as the team’s nominee for the 2018 Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
The award is the NFL's only award that recognizes a player for his excellence both on the field and in the community.
This year, Peppers started the Julius Peppers Hurricane Relief Fund through Foundation for the Carolinas with a $100,000 donation. He also visited the hardest hit areas of both North and South Carolina and helped victims repair their homes.
The winner, who will receive $250,000 from the NFL to donate to the charity of their choice, will be announced February 2nd.
Peppers has donated to UNC's Light on the Hill Society Scholarship, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Chicago and various churches nationwide in the past. He also funded the Julius Peppers Project from 2005 to 2008.
Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis won the award in 2014 and tight end Greg Olsen was a finalist in 2016 and 2017.
