Cam Newton Opens Cigar Lounge 'Fellaship' In Atlanta

Cam Newton's Fellaship located in downtown Atlanta

Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton said his recovery from shoulder surgery is going well, an injury that especially plagued him the last half of the season. But until he's fully recovered, Newton said he's been working on another project: his new cigar lounge "Fellaship" in Atlanta, Georgia.

The cigar lounge opens up this Super Bowl weekend.

On Atlanta's 680 The Fan, Newton opened up about the difficult months leading up to his shoulder surgery.

“You know with so much going on throughout this season I was in fear," Newton said. "It didn't matter how much I would grunt, muscle up and try to throw it. It wasn't going far, and you're looking at your arm like, geez Louise what’s really the issue?”

He said watching other superstar quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Super Bowl bound Tom Brady excel was a hit to his pride.

Now, Newton said he has other sources of fulfillment — one of them being the new cigar lounge.

“I’m excited because not only will you have a good opportunity to smoke a cigar, there will be a culinary experience like no other,” Newton said.

Newton said smoking cigars is one of his hobbies that allows him to debrief. His father and brother are his partners and they will run the day to day operations.
