Charlotte Talks

Charlotte Video Project and Million Dollar Quartet

Part One: The Charlotte Video Project Partnership On this program, we often talk about how Charlotte has destroyed much of its history, and we rely on old pictures, drawings and documents to get a feeling for what the city used to be like. Today, a pair of documentarians are trying to record TODAY's Charlotte, through the medium of video. They have a lofty goal, of producing 100 videos featuring Charlotte from different angles, before the DNC. A look at The Charlotte Video Project, its mission to document the culture of the Queen City and their partnership with a local print publication to help further that mission. Guests Scott Lazes - Co-founder and Editor of the Charlotte Video Project Kevin Beaty - Co-founder and Director of Photography for the Charlotte Video Project Richard Thurmond - Editor of Charlotte Magazine, who chose to partner with the Charlotte Video Project Jeremy Markovich - Writer at Charlotte Magazine, who wrote a companion piece for the Magazine to go with one of the documentaries of the Charlotte Video Project. Part Two: Million Dollar Quartet The true story of one of the most famous jam sessions of all time is being made popular once again through the Broadway production of "Million Dollar Quartet". It's the story of the night in 1956 when Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins all met at Sun Records Studio for a one-time session as a "super-group". "Million Dollar Quartet" has arrived in Charlotte, and we'll be joined by Elvis, Johnny, Jerry Lee, and Carl - or, the actors who portray them, at least. Guests Lee Ferris - plays Carl Perkins in Million Dollar Quartet Austin Cook - understudy for Jerry Lee Lewis in Million Dollar Quartet Derek Keeling - plays Johnny Cash in Million Dollar Quartet Billy Woodward - understudy for Elvis Presley in Million Dollar Quartet Million Dollar Quartet is Nov. 22 - Dec. 11 at Knight Theater Add and read comments
