Jugglers from as far away as Ohio, Washington DC and Atlanta were in Davidson this weekend for the 21st Hurrican Hugo Juggling Festival. They were on the Davidson Village Green Saturday tossing everything from tennis balls and pins to cigar boxes and knives. The event is hosted by the Lake Norman Jugglers, who founded the festival a year after the big hurricane swept through the Charlotte area. Bill Giduz of Davidson is the head juggler and organizer: "Since Hurricane Hugo blew things around through the air just like we throw things around through the air, we decided to name our festival in honor of Hurricane Hugo, and so we've been doing it every since starting in 1990." The festival's centerpiece was a Saturday night event called the Family Vaudeville Extravaganza, at Davidson College's Duke Family Performance Hall, followed by fire juggling outside in the student undion amphitheater.
