It’s Labor Day weekend, the traditional end of summer. The sun is setting a little earlier each night. Vacations are over, and kids are back in school. For many people, it’s a bittersweet time of year. The nostalgia of the end of summer is captured in the movie Dirty Dancing. Despite being set in the Adirondacks, much of the film was shot in Lake Lure, NC. And in recent years, the small mountain town about an hour and a half west of Charlotte has celebrated its connection to the 1987 classic with a festival.
In August, organizers say about 2,000 people came to the 6th Annual Dirty Dancing festival. WFAE's Allison Braden sent us this audio postcard.
