The family of Patrick Braxton-Andrew, the North Carolina teacher who was killed in Mexico, says his body has been found.

Braxton-Andrew disappeared Oct. 28 in the village of Urique, in Chihuahua State. The family reported the news in a Facebook post Saturday.

“It is with a sense of relief that we are able to confirm that Patrick's body has been recovered and we will be able to bring him home soon,” the post stated.

His parents, Gary Andrew and Jean Braxton, and brother, Kerry Braxton-Andrew, of Davidson, have been in Mexico trying to solve the mystery of his disappearance. They said police told them last week Patrick had been killed by drug traffickers.

The 34-year-old was a Spanish teacher at Woodlawn School near Davidson.

On Sunday night, Chihuahua's governor, Javier Corral, again blamed drug trafficker José Noriel Portillo Gil, known as "El Chueco" or "the crook,"  for the murder andsaid it will "not go unpunished."

Corral had said last week that El Chueco works for the notorious Sinaloa cartel, and pleged to end his "influence and control of that area."

He said a manhunt is underway, with state and federal police.

Corral said Braxton-Andrew's body had been buried after his killing, then later dug up. It was found near a road a few miles away from from Urique, where he had been staying, near the town of Guapalayna.
