Woman Charged In North Charlotte Shooting That Killed 1, Injured Another

Police have charged a 20-year old woman in connection with a Friday night murder in north Charlotte.  Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Nazah James faces charges including murder and conspiracy to commit murder. 

Police say Harriet Witherspoon Cromartie, 63, was one of two women found with gunshot wounds around 8 p.m. inside a vehicle outside an apartment complex on Wynbrook Way. Cromartie died at the scene. The other shooting victim was taken to the hospital.  

 

CMPD hasn’t said what led to the shootings.  

 

Police are also investigating another Friday night shooting that killed a man in east Charlotte. Officers found the man with gunshot wounds around 9 p.m. in a parking lot off Lawyers Road near W.T. Harris Boulevard. He was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

 

The man's name has not yet been released.
