Charlotte Mecklenburg police are investigating a homicide Thursday night in north Charlotte that apparently followed an argument between two women.

Officers were called to the 3600 block of Fagan Way, in a neighborhood west of Beatties Ford Road, around 7:15 p.m.  They found 51-year-old Lillie Mae Stewart, who was pronounced dead by MEDIC.

CMPD says Stewart, another woman and a man were inside the home when the two women began arguing. The scuffle took them out to the front yard of the home. Neighbors said they heard gunshots during the incident.

Police have not named the suspect.
