A Concord woman was charged with felony death by motor vehicle after Concord police said the car she was driving struck four construction workers early Saturday morning, killing one.

A 2013 Dodge Dart driven by Danyel McKenzie Middleton at about 1:45 a.m. on eastbound Concord Mills Boulevard drove into an area where a road improvement project was underway, Concord police said, and struck four workers inside the work zone.
Socorro Maya Martinez, 50, from Graham, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other workers from Cruz Brothers Concrete were taken to the hospital. One of the workers, Victor Martinez Cruz, was treated and released from the medical facility.
Marco Antonio Cruz is listed in critical condition, and Victor Ortiz Ceyon is listed in serious condition, police said Saturday morning.
Concord police said Middleton, 21, was "appreciably impaired by alcoholic beverages" and had a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit.
She was transferred to Cabarrus County Jail and is scheduled for a court appearance Monday.
