Double Shooting In Charlotte Leaves One Dead; 2019 Homicide Total Now At 90

A 25-year-old man was killed and another man was injured in a shooting in north Charlotte on Friday evening.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Tydarrien Ford was found shot in a car on Custer Street, already dead when they arrived shortly after they were called at 7:54 p.m.

Another man was in the road on Catherine Simmons Avenue near Custer Street with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

CMPD said the relationship between the two men is unknown. 

Ford's death marks the 90th homicide in Charlotte in 2019.

The most homicides Charlotte has experienced in a calendar year is 129 in 1993.
