A shooting early Monday morning in northeast Charlotte left one person dead and another injured. CMPD said officers found the two males at the entrance to the Hidden Valley neighborhood on Sugar Creek Road while responding to a call of assault with a deadly weapon around 1 a.m.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. He’s been identified Jamil Davis, 20. The other victim, who has not been identified. was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
The department said officers found a vehicle nearby they believe may be connected to the shooting. No arrests have been reported and no other information has been released.
It’s the 38th homicide in Charlotte this year. That’s about three times as many homicides there were at this point in 2018.
