Woman Known On Social Media As 'SouthPark Susan' Because Of Racist Rant Gets Probation

Susan Westwood
VIDEO SCREEN CAPTURE

A Charlotte woman whose racist rant against two black women was captured in a viral video last October will avoid jail time.

The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s office on Wednesday announced that a judge sentenced Susan Westwood, 52, to one year of unsupervised probation.

Judge Donald Cureton also ordered Westwood to pay court costs, continue attending "community support" meetings, along and any recommended alcohol programs. Cureton also ordered her to participate in meetings of a group that encourages white participants to "examine and deconstruct their internalized racial superiority."

Westwood pleaded guilty to misuse of the 911 system and to two counts of simple assault.

In the video from last fall, Westwood is seen berating the two women while they waited for the AAA towing service in the parking lot of a SouthPark apartment complex.

“Where do you live in this place? Because this is Myers Park. This is SouthPark,” Westwood could be heard asking the women.

In response, they calmly ask her to leave them alone. One woman says she lives there, too. Westwood continued antagonizing the women.

"What’s going on here in this parking lot that you feel that you need to congregate?" Westwood says at one point. “I’m white and I make a $125,000 a year.”

"What are you doing here, hanging out here on a Friday night? Cut it out. Don’t f--- with your life, b---. Cut it out….Get out of here," Westwood said.

When one of the women in the video goes off to call 911, Westwood follows her.

Another video captures Westwood asking, "Do I need to bring out my concealed weapon too?"

A judge also ordered Westwood to pay court costs and for her to participate in meetings of a group that encourages white participants to quote "examine and deconstruct their internalized racial superiority."
