Science Studio: Terrarium Build
Join us for our next Science Studio event as we explore climate science and conservation featuring a build your own terrarium workshop and special evening viewing hours for our featured exhibition, Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Dr. Jane Goodall.
Event Details:
How it works: You’ll select a timeslot for the terrarium workshop and drop in at any point within that hour to build your terrarium. Becoming Jane will be available from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and you can view the exhibit before or after you build your terrarium.
Please note: For those selecting the 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. timeslot, please plan to come prior to your workshop to see Becoming Jane as the exhibit will close at 9:00 p.m.
Light concessions available for purchase.
Northern Lights: Music of the Baltics and Scandinavia
Join the Charlotte Chamber Choir as we present “Northern Lights,” an afternoon of a cappella wonder featuring the choral works of Baltic and Scandinavian composers. Sapphire-hued harmonies and shimmering vocal textures will evoke the wonder of swirling auroras, glittering tundras, and the bright glow of the midnight sun.
This program features some of the world’s most captivating choral music, drawn from the rich traditions of Northern Europe reflected in the works of choral masters Ēriks Ešenvalds, Arvo Pärt, Ola Gjeilo, and more.
Though tickets are not required to attend, donations are graciously accepted for this free event. Contributions to the Charlotte Chamber Choir can be made on Venmo at @charlottechamberchoir (venmo.com/charlottechamberchoir).

Ramadan Interfaith Iftar Dinner
Muslims host special Interfaith Iftar event to unite voices calling for peace
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is, once again, hosting Interfaith Open Iftars around the country, this time with the theme of “Voices for Peace.” The focus of this effort is to amplify the voices calling for a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Palestine and a long-term peaceful resolution with a shared commitment to peace, justice, and human dignity. With world leaders not doing their part to de-escalate the conflict and protect human lives, the Voices for Peace Interfaith Iftar provides a grass-roots initiative for Americans to come together in respect and friendship to raise the voices calling for an end to violence and a commitment to peace.

Hear the iconic music of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, LIVE under the immersive dome of the planetarium! Join The Album Series band for a live concert event featuring the albums, “Are You Experienced?” and “Axis: Bold as Love” accompanied by psychedelic 360-degree graphics.
Science Studio: Art+Science
Create your own nature journal and explore the World Alive exhibit where you’ll learn different art techniques such as nature sketching, scientific drawing, rubbing and collage art.
World Alive features our rainforest, aquarium, Living Planet Lab and a whole host of ambassador animals who will surely add a lively element to this art and science event.
All activities included in admission price.

Charlotte LiveLung Meeting
This month, the group will learn about "Easy Meditation Practices for Self-Care" from Expert Speaker Susan Yaguda, RN, Manager, Integrative Oncology, Survivorship and Senior Oncology at Levine Cancer Institute, Atrium Health.
If you have been impacted by lung cancer, we welcome you to join us.
Lunch is served during this in-person meeting so please register and place your order at least 24 hours before the meeting.
Measure for Measure
The performances will take place March 20, 21, and 22 at 7:30pm and March 22 and 23 at 2:00pm!
This contemporary re-imagining of Shakespeare’s classic production will meditate on the tragically timeless dimension of this comedy – on corruption of state from the top down, of dangerous desire, of violence, but also of determined faithfulness – and on Shakespeare as prophetic time-traveler.
Buy tickets here- tickets are $8-$18. CoAA Faculty, Staff, and Students are eligible for free tickets to this performance. Please log into your Niner account in the ticketing system to redeem.
Closed captioning will be available at all performances in both English and Spanish. Further instructions on accessing the captions on your smartphone will be available upon arrival. Captioning is powered by CCTheater, from AccessTech, LLC. Spanish subtitles provided by Irene K. Nash and Glorian Hidalgo Vega.

FACULTY & FRIENDS: DEBUSSY, MAHLER, BEACH
The Department of Music presents a Faculty & Friends Concert featuring a chamber orchestra of faculty, alumni, and student musicians under the direction of Alan Yamamoto. On the program are chamber versions of Debussy's "Afternoon of a Faun" and Mahler's "Rückert Lieder," featuring soprano Sequina DuBose, and Three Pieces for Violin and Piano by Amy Beach, featuring Anne R. Belk Distinguished Professor of Violin David Russell.
The concert is free to everyone.
FACULTY & FRIENDS: CHARLOTTE STRINGS COLLECTIVE
The Department of Music presents a Faculty & Friends Concert featuring the Charlotte Strings Collective.
The Charlotte Strings Collective is composed of students, faculty, and alumni from UNC Charlotte, Davidson College, and Winthrop University; students and alumni from Northwest School of the Arts; members of the Charlotte Symphony; local orchestra directors; freelance musicians; private string teachers; and public school music educators.
The group came together virtually in the Summer of 2020 as a musical affirmation that Black Lives Matter. Since then they have performed at places and events such as the College Music Society National Conference, the American String Teachers Association National Conference, the North Carolina Music Educators Association Conference, the Jazz Room in Charlotte, UNC Charlotte, Winthrop University, Bridging Musical Worlds (a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.), I am Queen in collaboration with the Charlotte Symphony, the Tosco Music Party, as an opening act for the Fisk Jubilee Singers, the Charlotte SHOUT Festival, the City of Charlotte's summer concert series at Five Points Plaza, the Community Building Initiative annual breakfast, and at the Black Notes Festival in Charlotte.
This concert is free to everyone.

2025 SPRING DANCE CONCERT
April 10th, 11th, and 12th at 7:30pm and the 13th at 2:00pm.
The Department of Dance presents the Spring Dance Concert, featuring student performers in choreography by faculty Audrey Baran, Tod Kubo, and Kim Jones and guest artist James Kopecky of Charlotte Ballet.

Taste of the Mint: Food for Thought Art Tours
Enjoy a specially designed tasting and wine pairing at Mariposa (March 13) or Coquette (March 20), the Mint’s partner restaurants. Then, take an intimate museum educator-led tour of select works from our permanent collection. Immerse yourself in a multisensory experience that celebrates the intersection of fine dining and fine art.
This event takes place at two restaurants on separate evenings. Dine at Mariposa on March 13 or at Coquette on March 20. Guests may choose one date and location, or both for a double serving of artful dining! Tickets are $60 for guests and $50 for members.

Charlotte SHOUT! Convergence with Noelle Russell
Join us as we launch Charlotte SHOUT! with an unforgettable evening celebrating the festival’s four vibrant pillars: Food, Music, Arts, and Ideas. This kickoff at the newly restored Carolina Theatre will set the stage for two weeks of creativity, culture, and community. The evening will culminate with the official launch of the Charlotte Ideas Festival, featuring a timely keynote presentation by AI leader Noelle Russell on the crucial intersection of innovation and ethics.
Decoda in Concert: A Celebration of Creativity with 7th Street Concerts
In an ecstatic celebration of creativity, Decoda appears in Charlotte for the first time to present a varied and colorful program as part of Charlotte SHOUT! featuring string quartet plus bassoonist Brad Balliett. Playing music spanning from Elgar to Carolina Shaw, this exciting program will also feature a brand new, world premiere work composed by YOU! That's right- if you attend our SHOUT! Music and Technology Hackathon, you can join a workshop led by Decoda to unlock your own creative potential and see something you've helped create on the big stage. Be part of creating a little piece of Charlotte SHOUT! and celebrate your own creativity alongside the creativity of many other great composers and performers. As always, our concerts feature a complementary reception and free parking with validation.
Decoda was founded in 2012 by musicians who first collaborated as members of Ensemble Connect, a two-year fellowship program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute in partnership with the NYC Department of Education. Its work as an ensemble has grown out of this collective training, which focused on developing skills as exemplary performers, dedicated teachers, and passionate advocates for music in communities around the world.
