  • Celebrate Pride with power chords, powerhouse vocals, and pure joy! The Gay Men’s Chorus of Charlotte presents ICONS: Pride Goes Pop—a bold, high-energy concert of anthems that have defined LGBTQ+ visibility and resilience over the past two decades.

This electrifying program features stunning choral takes on modern Pride favorites like Brave (Sara Bareilles), Dancing on My Own (Calum Scott), Follow Your Arrow (Kacey Musgraves), Born This Way (Lady Gaga), and a heart-lifting mashup of True Colors (Cyndi Lauper) and Roar (Katy Perry). You’ll also hear reimagined ballads and bangers from icons like Cher, George Michael, and ABBA—all delivered with the rich, powerful harmonies only GMCC can bring.

These aren’t just songs—they’re declarations. Of love. Of identity. Of being seen and heard. Whether you're here to sing along, sway with friends, or soak in the sound of queer joy, ICONS invites you to take your place in the chorus.

This project is part of a three year commitment to produce Luis Alfaro’s groundbreaking Greek Trilogy
The desert is on fire. It’s being consumed by fury as Electricidad, burning with grief and hatred, keeps vigil by her murdered father’s corpse. She longs for the sweet revenge that will set his spirit free. When her brother Orestes returns from exile, Electricidad’s anger explodes, consuming everything in its path and leading her family to a final shattering confrontation. Transporting Sophocles’ Electra to the Los Angeles barrios, MacArthur Genius Award-winning playwright Luis Alfaro investigates violence, loss, and redemption through the lens of this age-old tragedy. Electricidad crackles with intensity, and transforms a 2000-year-old text into a vibrant, vital and thoroughly unforgettable myth for the modern age.

Electricidad is published as part of The Greek Trilogy of Luis Alfaro. Based on Sophocles' Electra and Oedipus, and Euripides' Medea, Alfaro's Electricidad, Oedipus El Rey, and Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles platform the concerns of the Chicano and wider Latino communities in Los Angeles and New York through ancient drama. Three Bone Theatre is proud to produce all three works of this trilogy across three seasons.

True to the original Greek tragedy, the play includes mature situations, smoking, violence, drug and gang references, and adult language in both English and Spanish. Electricidad is recommended for adult audiences

We quickly run out of wheelchairs and also accept gently used equipment (see our website for items accepted). Help us bridge these gaps by joining and sharing our event.
