We meet an extraordinary man with ties to Charlotte. Naphtaly Mattah was born in extreme poverty on Mfangano Island on Kenya Africa's Lake Victoria. Naphtaly escaped poverty and graduated from college but his people, the Suba, continued to suffer from high rates of Malaria, HIV and AIDS. Naphtaly returned to Kenya and opened the Gethsamane Garden Christian Centre, a school where Mfangano Island orphans can live and learn. The center has ties in Charlotte. We meet Naphtaly today, learn about conditions in his homeland and hear his story.
