Bank of America and Too Big To Fail Hugh McColl took a small southern bank and eventually grew it into a behemoth called Bank of America, putting Charlotte on the map as Banktown USA along the way. But not everyone applauds the making of Bank of America, or other large banks for that matter. At least one national journalist, in a scathing Rolling Stone article, says that BofA, Wells Fargo and other large banks, bent, twisted, broke or rewrote U.S. banking laws while under intense competition to grow. Now these banks are out of control. Did Bank of America, JP Morgan and other large banks strengthen the U.S. economy or will they be the ruin of it? We ask that question and more when Charlotte Talks.
