Where do we stand in the fight against the coronavirus as North Carolina nears the first phase of easing its restrictions?

Gov. Roy Cooper said the first of three phases for relaxing the state’s order would begin Friday.

When the state takes the first step on Friday, what does life look like then? What benchmarks are health experts looking at – and worried about – as the restrictions start to loosen?
