Islamic Center Of Charlotte On Alert Following Attacks
The Islamic Center of Charlotte is on alert following recent attacks in London and Virginia on Muslims observing Ramadan. The Islamic Center’s Jibril Hough says security is already high during Ramadan but there haven’t been any changes in response to the attacks.
“We have security, extra members of our Islamic center on staff to help with the flow and also keep their eyes and ears out for anything strange during Ramadan.” He said. “Because every night we have hundreds of people visiting the Islamic center just like you saw in London”
Mosques are busy during Ramadan as people come to pray and eat between sunset and sunrise each day. In London, a man drove a van into a crowd injuring at least nine people. In Northern Virginia a teenage girl was beaten to death after leaving a mosque. Ramadan ends Saturday night.
