The NBA All-Star game is expected to bring thousands of visitors to Charlotte this weekend. AirBnB estimates over 3,800 people will rent space through the online service. The company said in a news release Thursday that it’s the largest influx of guests to rent through AirBnB in Charlotte.
The All-Star weekend is projected to bring in about $855,000 in combined supplemental income for Charlotte hosts, AirBnB said. The average host is expected to earn about $395 this coming weekend.

AirBnB rentals for the game are also expected to have a statewide economic impact. The company said it’s collecting state and local taxes (that total about 7 percent) on all host bookings.
Last year, a total of 141,000 people stayed in Mecklenburg County using the service, AirBnB said.
