It seems a little odd to be talking about anything being the best of this year – the words “best of” and “2020” don’t really go together.
But one good thing about this strange and troubled year is that people had time to talk.
And a lot of smart and thoughtful people came on SouthBound this year to dig deep into the issues of the South and as of the country as a whole.
In this episode you’re going to hear excerpts from of some of my favorite conversations of the year – from comedian Roy Wood Jr., to writer Rick Bragg, to astronaut Charles Bolden, among others.
Collectively, I hope their words help us remember what this year was like.
There were some women in my family who used to make jelly every summer, and a couple of them swore they could tell what year they made it by how it tasted in the jar. Every year has its own flavor.
This year’s vintage was a strange one. But it sure has been distinctive.
